Wayne has been WIB’s executive director since 1983. He oversees the
development and delivery of all member services, including public policy,
government advocacy, professional information, newsletters and other
communications. As WIB’s lead lobbyist, Wayne specializes in tax policy,
health & health insurance reform, unemployment insurance and employment law
issues.
Wayne has a long history in volunteer charity and church work. He has 30+
years as a leader with Easter Seals-Wisconsin and the National Easter Seal
Society. A member of the board of directors of Easter Seals-Wisconsin for 19
years, he served as chairman from 1980-82 and 1990-92. His National Easter
Seal Society service included membership on the Public Affairs and Affiliate
Services committees, membership on the Coordinating Committee of the
National House of Delegates and membership on the Member & Organizational
Services and Nominating committees of the National House. He was presented a
Lifetime Achievement Award by Easter Seals Wisconsin in 2002 “in recognition
of many years of service on behalf of Easter Seals and people with
disabilities.” He was awarded Easter Seals’ Clare D. Rejahl Memorial Award
in 1993 “in recognition of volunteer efforts for Easter Seals on behalf of
people with disabilities.” Wayne and his wife, Diane, are members of the
President’s Council of the National Easter Seal Society.
Wayne is currently a member of Governor Jim Doyle’s Healthy Wisconsin
Council. He has served on the Governor’s Committee for People with
Disabilities since 1989. He served a six-year term on the Wisconsin
Rehabilitation Council at the Department of Workforce Development. The
council oversees the state Division of Vocational Rehabilitation;
Wayne was the first chairman of Wisconsin’s Americans with Disabilities
Act Statewide Coordinating Committee. He has spoken and conducted seminars
on business and the A-D-A throughout Wisconsin and across the country;
He served a six-year term on the board of directors of Combined Health
Appeal of Wisconsin and chaired the board from 1993-95. He was presented the
President’s Award in 1991 for “distinguished volunteer efforts”;
Wayne served as president of Immanuel Lutheran Church from 1996-2002;
He is a member of the corporate board of directors of the Four Freshmen
Society, an international jazz organization dedicated to the music of the
legendary vocal/instrumental quartet and to the preservation of The Great
American Songbook;
He is a former member of the board of directors of the Madison Boys Choir;
Wayne served on the board of directors of Wyoming (Michigan) Promotions,
Incorporated (WPI) from 1968-1972 where he helped develop community
promotional activities, the largest (at the time) rodeo east of the
Mississippi and chaired the annual Independence Day celebration;
Wayne and Diane have three adult sons who live in Madison. Their
granddaughter is an 8th grader in the Monona Grove Public Schools.
